WEST END WICKED STAR, KERRY ELLIS,
HEADING FOR BROADWAY
Kerry Ellis, currently starring as Elphaba in the smash hit musical WICKED at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, is to recreate her award-winning performance on Broadway.

Kerry will play her final performance in London on 7 June 2008 before beginning performances at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre on 17 June 2008. Following her Broadway engagement, Kerry will return to the London production later in the year.

Kerry Ellis was the first British actor to play Elphaba, receiving unanimous rave reviews, and she has just won a 2008 Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award for her performance. She is currently working on her debut album, which is being produced by Brian May, for release later this year.

The award-winning, record-breaking hit musical has now been seen by over a million theatregoers since its London premiere in September 2006, taking over £40 million at the Box Office to date. The production has also recouped its entire original capitalisation. Booking has recently been extended again and tickets are currently on sale until April 2009.

WICKED currently stars Kerry Ellis as Elphaba, Dianne Pilkington as Glinda, Oliver Tompsett as Fiyero, Susie Blake as Madame Morrible (until 12 April 2008*) and Nigel Planer as The Wizard. Cast subject to change from 9 June 2008.

* Harriet Thorpe will star as Madame Morrible from Monday 14 April 2008.

WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by Joe Mantello. It is based on the novel, Wicked – The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire.

yeah...the only good thing is that she's staying for longer than we thought....but god she must be so sick of being elphie by the end of all this.. oh well...at least we get to see her again!! i wonder hoe long she'll stay for though and who will replace her...IT BETTER NOT BE CJ! Mad

ooh yeah, i wonder who it'll be ??? probably will be CJ!
I'm not quite so upset about missing 7th june now, at least it's not our last chance to see her as elphie =] yay!

She is my favourite Elphaba! but I'm happy for her - she's said she'd like to perform in America and being on broadway will open doors for her Wow It's so cool she's working with Kendra!! and yes she may corpse lol xxx

Iv read online that when Kerry comes back from Broadway she is only doing Wicked until January, and Ashleigh Gray will be taking over the role of Elphaba on January 5th 2009.
Anyone know if its true?

well, it was on youtube on a comment made by someone on one of ashleigh gray's videos i think, and then my friend went on wikipedia and it also said it on there but they are not exactly reliable sources!! lol so i was just wondering if anyone else knew anything about it! Smile
